Angelina Jolie’s DOUBLE MASTECTOMY
“My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman,” Jolie wrote. “Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.”
This was the statement given by the gorgeous and the actress with voluptuous lips, Angelina Jolie. Jolie said that she had finished three months of medical procedures at the Pink Lotus Breast Center in California on April 27 2013 that included the bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction mastectomy
So what do you think was the real reason for her to undergo Mastectomy when she did not have any disease? This was mainly done to prevent the possibilities of getting the Breast Cancer.
Jolie’s mother, actress and producer Marcheline Bertrand, died of ovarian cancer in 2007 at the age of 56. Jolie’s aunt also died of the breast cancer.
The death of her mother had a devastating effect on Jolie. She was in deep grief at the loss of her mother. She was very much depressed by the loss. Jolie has been divorced twice and now lives with her boy friend and partner of long time ‘Brad Pitt.’
When loneliness was eating her out she started adopting children. She has got three adopted children and three biological children out of which two are twins.
On March 10, 2002, Jolie adopted her first child, seven-month-old Maddox Chivan, from an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Jolie adopted a daughter, six-month-old Zahara Marley, from an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on July 6, 2005.
On May 27, 2006, Jolie gave birth to a daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, in Swakopmund, Namibia.
On March 15, 2007, Jolie adopted a son, three-year-old Pax Thien, from an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam.
She gave birth to twins, a son, Knox Léon, and a daughter, Vivienne Marcheline, on July 12, 2008, in Nice, France.
When her family was full and self-sufficient she wanted to get married to her long time partner Brad Pitt. Then the scar of cancer running in her family came back to haunt her, When her maternal aunt was diagnosed to have the Breast cancer.
Her family had a long list of people suffering from cancer.
her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, had breast cancer and died from ovarian cancer at the age of 56,
While her maternal grandmother had ovarian cancer and died aged 45.
Her maternal aunt Debbie Martin, who had the same defective BRCA1 gene as Jolie, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and later died at age 61 on May 26, 2013.
When her aunt was diagnosed of the cancer, Jolies’s children started asking her what would be the fate of their mother, Jolie. The 37-year-old actress has six children, and they have sometimes asked whether she might also end up with the illness that took their grandmother, Marcheline Bertrand, in 2007. She was bold enough to tell her children that they don’t need to fear for they will lose her to breast cancer. She had always told them not to worry, but the truth is she was carrying a ‘faulty’ gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
